Experience a 40-minute steam train ride behind an historic steam locomotive along the original Great Southern Railway!
Steam train rides run daily, departing Thirlmere Station to Buxton and return at: 11.00am | 12.15pm | 2.00pm

Junkyard Beats' Musical Garden
6,7,9 13,14,16 July
From 11am to 3pm on select days, jam out with Junkyard Beats with their musical garden!
Transform ordinary household items and recycled materials into musical instruments that are guaranteed to amaze and inspire about music and sustainability.

Games and activites
During your visit, enjoy mini-train rides*, a range of giant yard games, Brio tables, colouring in, and more. Plus, explore Australia's largest collection of heritage rollingstock!

A small range of drinks, tea, coffee, pre-made sandwiches, salads and snacks are available from the NSW Rail Museum Kiosk.

Picnic areas
With over 10,000 square metres of lawns and sheltered picnic tables, the grounds are the perfect place to have a picnic – don’t forget a rug!

All tickets are for entry to the NSW Rail Museum from 10.00am to 4.00pm on weekdays and 9.00am to 5.00pm on weekends.

'Museum only' includes all activities, except a steam train ride.

Please be sure of your availability before you book as there are NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES offered.

Children under 2 are admitted FREE but must sit on adults lap during train ride.

The NSW Rail Museum reserves the right to change locomotive power without notice, however will endeavour to notify customers of this change should the need arise for operational reasons.
