Step back in time with a steam train ride behind heritage locomotive 3001

Steam train rides depart Thirlmere Station EVERY DAY from 12 to 27 April 2025.
Departs from NSW Rail Museum at:
10.30am,12.00pm, 2.00pm

Anzac Day (25 April) departs at:
12.00pm, 2.00pm, 3.15pm

Total trip duration: 40minutes.

Fizzics Education
Enjoy the wonders of science with Fizzics Education!

Get hands-on with science experiments with the Curious Kids workshop, watch incredible reactions in the Chemistry Show, or explore push and pull forces in the Forces Friction and Movement Workshop.

Workshops take place on 14, 22, 23 and 24 April at the following times:​

Anzac Day
This ANZAC day, the NSW Rail Museum will be open from 11am, with steam train rides operating from midday.
We welcome all to enjoy a day at the museum this Friday, and are offering free museum entry to current and former serving Australian defence force personnel.
A wreath will be placed on our heritage locomotive in tribute to the sacrifice of those who served in World War I and all conflicts that followed, as well as the brave men and women currently serving.


Games and Activites
Every day of the holidays, explore Australia's largest collection of heritage trains, and enjoy mini-train rides, a range of giant yard games, brio tables, colouring in, and more.
Terms and conditions

All tickets are for entry to the NSW Rail Museum from 10.00am to 4.00pm on weekdays and 9.00am to 5.00pm on weekends.

'Museum only' includes all activities, except a steam train ride.

Please be sure of your availability before you book as there are NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES offered.

Children under 2 are admitted FREE but must sit on adults lap during train ride.

The NSW Rail Museum reserves the right to change locomotive power without notice, however will endeavour to notify customers of this change should the need arise for operational reasons.
